Martin lives and has grown up in northern Bohuslän in Sweden. He has throughout his childhood and adolescence worked practically with agriculture and forestry. He educated himself as a forestry engineer in 2002. He has for some years worked as a silviculture advisor and timber buyer within the conventional forestry. However, during the period of education and work, he was always a “doubter” and asked himself if the current way to manage the forest really was a sensible way to manage and relate to the ecosystem. Therefore, he increasingly got more interested in alternatives to the conventional clear-cut forestry. It led him to quit his job in the forest industry and he is now working to develop and operate the company Silva Forest AB, which provides specialized services to forest owners who want to use their forests in greater harmony with nature.
Lecture (will be held in Swedish):
Silvaskog’s nature-oriented forestry
Silvaskog promotes services about natural forest management according to the "Lübeck-model". Our operation should follow the basic principles of nature-oriented forestry and apply recent research findings regarding both forest economy as well as fundamental environmental issues.
